Lloyd's List marine news 1740 - 1837 
Lloyd's List has been the leading daily newspaper for the maritime world for more than 250 years In particular it records the movements of ships, marine news of casualties, ‘speakings’ and other events involving individual vessels.

Lloyd's Registers 
This incomplete sequence of 18th & 19th Century volumes were scanned by Google. They have the advantage of being searchable and so it is possible to look for masters, owners etc.

Merchant Shipping (WWll) Movement Records
